Leveling Kit Questions on a 2nd Gen

Leveling Kit Questions on a 2nd Gen

I am debating getting a 2 - 2.5 leveling kit for my 2009 access cab TRD to fit a bit larger tires. Kinda wanting to get some advice on multiple things, i am low on cash and wanting to save a bit of cash. Should i go with the leveling kit or save up and get a full suspension lift, i am not wanting to go extreme with tire size since this truck sees tons of highway miles. Also how large of a tire could i fit without rubbing on the 2.5 leveling kit?

best bet is a full suspension kit. i have a leveling kit on mine and a friend who has full suspension. his is alot smoother and will probably last longer.
the spacers puts more stress on the shocks than normal.

also i have 33x12.5 on mine with minor rubbing.

First I'd say go full coilovers, but if you just want a level kit go with the 2", a 2.5" will make you nose-high (unless you like that look). Also, 32's will fit without a lift and look good with a lift. 33's run the risk of some minor rubbing and some minor fender trimming will likely be in order.

Run a search or two on here, there are lots of pics with Tacos running 2", 2.5", and 3" lifts/levels with 32s and 33s.

1.75" will level you out if you have the non tsb rear springs. with the tsb springs you can go 2.5" to level it out.

Ok thanks for the input, I think what i am going to do is the 2.5 and run 32's in the truck for now and then switch to a full suspension set up once i make some money.

I had always been told to stay away from spacer lifts, due to odd noises and handling changes. Are those issues somewhat true or just BS for those of you with the spacer lifts?

I had a spacer lift when I first got the truck mostly because I wanted to keep the suspension I had just paid extra for(trd or) intact. It worked just fine for everyday driving and mild offroading. I didn't experience any vibes or noises. Was just a little stiff!

i had just the 2.5" on mine and it sat kinda high in the front so i added 1" blocks in the rear and it sits pretty level, maybe about 1/4" higher in the rear. i fit 265/75/16 with the stock wheels and no rubbing. if you wanna run 285's you'll have to get wider rims and might have to trim some plastic in your wheel wells.

i thought about adding wheel spacers for 285s to hopefully avoid the rubbing, would that help?

I have stock steelies,with 2.5 level and tsb with 285's. Zero rub, although I have a custom front bumper.Not sure where others rub.

I have an 06 TRD double cab, i just put a 2 1/4 inch pro comp strut spacer in the front and a toytec 2" add a leaf in the rear with 265/75/16 interco trxus mt's. The ride is a little more firm in the front and rides more like a truck in the rear than it did stock. Plus it doesn't bottom out like it used to when i have my portable fish house and gear in the back! It is still lower in the front than the rear, but for now it works great. No rubbing issues.

has anybody tried 3" in front and 1" in rear. I think itll be about perfect level. I just ordered and hope i didnt make a mistake and its nose high

I have a 3" spacer lift in the front and I haven't had any problems with it. I'm in the woods a lot (hunting), so mild offroading and the ride's fine. I started out with 1.5" blocks in the rear and ended up taking them out because it was a little higher in the rear. Now it sits a little nose high but I love it And I've got 285's, just took off the mudflaps and cut a very little bit of plastic and now no rubbing.

And JJ5685, I think you should be about level

Yeah I think you should be good. With the 1.5" rear blocks, my truck was almost level, just a little bit high in the rear, but not much at all, and with stock rear it's just a little lower in the back
