UCA after bilstein 5100?

Do you need to change the UCA after installing bilstein 5100?

 

I tried but could not get a spot on alignment with my 5100's and 265/75/16's, the tech brought me around to view the process for myself on the alignment computer contraption thing (technical name of machine)... uca may be the ticket to propr spec but its not so off that im chewing tires... make sure if you don't get the uca's you go to a reputable alignment shop... they could have easily let me leave none the wiser.

 

the suspension on these trucks is really shitty, they don't have much adjustment. So if you can afford them get them.

 

THis is something I am looking at as well. I have the front 5100 set at . and I like the ride and the look. It handles well around town but when I put on 265/75s it started wandering a bit on the interstate above 75... It isnt bad but is isnt as good as I was with smaller tires or before the 5100s. I didnt know this would be an issue or I would not have went with the 5100s.

ANyway... the dealer was supposed to do an alignment with the rear TSB. I am starting to doubt they did or if they did they couldnt get it right.

I thought it was my new tires at first but after reading some of these posts I believe it is the UCAs.

I just did my 5100s a few weeks ago. Set at 1.75 and the shop couldn't get it right after two trips. It's not bad but it's not great so I bought new UCAs and will be installing them this weekend. I think most problems with such small lift stem from the lack of adjustments (as stated above) and the inability to find a good shop that can do it right.

 

I got my 5100s here now waiting to be installed just waiting on new tires in which I'll get in a couple of months and these are the posts i don't like to see. But i done loads of research on this and it's very rare to see people having problems with alignment at 1.75 atleast i hope anyways!

 

I think a lot of people just put up with the steering issues. Mine is not so bad that it would keep me from doing the 5100s... I just know it can be better. Heck... I drove it on a 900 mile trip week before last and over 300 miles this weekend... I survived...

I just know it can be better so I will continue to seek out what needs to be done.

I lifted my old Bronco a few years ago and put 35s on it... couldnt even keep it in one lane at 35MPH... I kept tweaking this and that until it finally started driving right... It is amazing how smooth that 34 year old truck drives now.... or I could have just settled for OK...

i went about 2"..my alignment shop couldnt do the magic. i will get UCA's later this year.

 

What specs did your alignment shop use?

Do they have a factory spec they go by?

Do they take into account the geometry of the lifted suspension?

I am going to seek out an alignment shop to look at mine but I want to understand what they need to be doing first.
