broken right rear shock

So here is the story...quick version

Went over dip at regular speed few days ago, havent drove the truck since then. Heard clunking noises after...Heard the noises again on way to work and saw rear right shock broken (pic below). I have the toytec ultimate lift kit and was installed about 1 year ago. Never had problems until now. Is this fixable, should i contact toytec, and/or and I screwed?

are they new rear shocks(5100s), and do you just have a AAL in the rear?

Yea those shocks can accommodate that amount of lift so I would talk to toytec cause that should not happen

Yea I just got done emailing them not to long ago and included the picture above. I haven't done any extreme off roading or flex the front or rears at all. Has anyone had this problem? If yes did toytec replace the shock or do you guys think this fixable. I am just trying to see what to expect tomorrow after work.

That should be a warranty thing, they shouldn't break, just wear out.

Make sure your warranty replacement shock(s) isn't over-torqued during install...

The shock you had break, could have simply had a flaw in the rod which in turned led to the failure. It wouldn't be the first time its happened, although it isn't very common. The good thing is, you are covered by a lifetime warranty with the billy's.

I haven't had time or in the right place to check the warranty (I'm at work because i work graveyard). Do you know if I should deal with toytec or would I have to be contacting the manufacturer for this problem?

I'd say start with Toytec and then go from there. What are you using as a replacement in the mean time? Did you just remove the shock for now?

I haven't done anything... iI is sitting outside in the parking lot. I took that picture right when I got to work...I'm going to have to drive it like that on the way home...

Well that sucks. See if you can some how secure the shock body to something in order to prevent it from coming in contact with your tire on the ride home. You should be fine without it, but I wouldn't go do anything to crazy on the way home.


Something you might be able to do, if there is a maintenance guy on duty, you might be able to borrow some simple hand tools to remove the lower bolt and get that shock body out of there. Just some food for thought.
