Bilsteins vs OME, can't decide

Hello,

New to the forum here. I've spent countless hours lately trying to decide what lift to go with on my 02 TRD Tacoma and came down to two options - Bilsteins 5100's all around with aal or the toytec OME kit. I'm looking for a 2.5-3" lift. What sort of difference would I notice between the two? Would they be fairly comparable? Is it worth the extra money for the OME?

what kindof use will it be getting. if its mostly on road and some rare light offroading then just go with the 5100 and an AAL. thats what i did and i am very happy with it

Perfect that is exactly what i'll be doing. Some light offroad and hauling dirtbikes in the back. In addition to the 5100's, what else did you need to buy? Are these the aals you used to go with the 5100's -

Yes, those are the AAL you would want.

If you only go to the 2.5 with the bilstein shocks, you can get away without the use of the diff drop kit. But for $30 bucks, I always say, its a cheap insurance policy to help preserve your CV's, etc.

Do we know what year pudge151 truck is?
With an 02, I would think you would be better off with the OME kit, that way you can replace both the front coils and struts. You will be way happier in the long run.

i just (i.e. last weekend) installed bilstein 5100s and the toytec 2" add-a-leaf. i drive mostly on-road with occasional light hauling (motorcycle, building supplies, etc.) and the rare, light off-roading.

i couldn't be happier with my choice. it handles great and the 2" is actually noticeable! i have the front bilsteins cranked up to 2.5" and was initially worried about over-stressing my cv joints, but in their neutral driving position they are only slightly angled. the rear rides a little stiffer with the aal, but it's a truck, not a mercedes, and it's not overly harsh.

if i had the money, i might have gone with the ome or toytec ultimate lift, but i just couldn't swing the extra dough.
