Skyjacker lift with Coilovers and new leaf packs

Hey, so im new to the world of tacomas, just bought an 05 4x4 4cyl reg cab, and im looking to lift it. im not looking to do anything too extensive, just to get it up for some bigger tires and offroad capabilities.

Ive looked into a kit that Skyjacker is offering with front coil overs and new rear leaf packs.

Im wondering if anyone has experience with this kit or could shed some light on it for me. Also if theres any other kits like this out there that i should be looking at.

Thanks,

Mike

Most people here will probably recommend either the Toytec Ultimate lift kit or OME lift.

How high do you wanna take it?

I'm doing bilstein 5100's at 2.5" and 2" AAL w/ 285/70/17

Well now you do, I have a similar kit that I got a great deal on but I know that there are better kits for our trucks that cost less than the Skyjacker kit. Mine is the coilovers with an AAL in the rear. I would recommend a different kit, the Skyjacker one is extremely stiff ride and makes an insane amount of noise. For what you would pay for that kit you could probably get a better one with more lift. Unless you just like the really stiff ride quality. I do.

Just my $0.02

I'm still running on stock UCAs but I'm looking to upgrade very soon. I've got the 3 inch kit running 265/75r17 tires. Soon I'll be upgrading those too.

pretty hard to get a full 3" w/ a 4x4...your CVs will limit you...unless you have a ton of cash to keep replacing them...

i too say 5100s and AAL. there is a lift sticky here somewhere which will tell you all you need to know. no UCAs are needed w/ the 5100s at 2.5"....although i know some will argue. i personally ran the 5100s at 2.5" just fine w/ OEM arms.

I think you may have the strut lift. Are yours painted silver or anodized blue? Silver is the 3" strut lift, blue anodized is the adjustable coilovers. Yes, the strut lift will be a little more stiff versus stock, it's supposed to be. Adjustable coilovers are a bit more stiff also after being adjusted to lift height.
