I was in the same seat as you one time young grass hopper. Convinced my dad to lemme get front 5100's to level (i knew it would have bro rake tho) and then he didnt like bro rake so I then bought a 2" rear lift so it sits nice and level with a little lift, and now we're both happy with how it sits. :D

If your Dad is having to pay for part of the install or part of the repairs if something has a problem then I say he gets say in what gets installed on the truck. Install for those parts is going to be in the range of $300-$500, possibly more. If he doesn't pay part of the install or repairs make sure you don't bitch to him when something does happen or that you don't have money after the install.

yeah it actually is bc it gave me time to research good lifts for the rear while i was saving up. plus its cool to watch the truck progress over time instead of buying everything at once, dropping it off at a shop, and badda bing badda boom its totally different.

Any a who....the OP didn't state his age. If you're say 45 and living at home, he may want you to take that cash and put it towards a U-Haul.

I say get some nice tires like some 265/75s and then work your way up to a lift. It will look better with big tires and no lift than with a 3in lift and crappy looking stock tires. Blow your wad on some MTR Kevlars!

I was thinking of saving my money so i can purchase and put it on at the same time but putting bigger tires and rims will raise my car up a tad bit

lifting a truck DOES change everything about the truck, and if you do the wrong set up, it CAN ruin it...

its a new truck... give the dust some time to settle before stirrin shit up at home...

you may win this battle, but will lose the war should anything ever happen to the truck within the next year... if you ever lose control of the truck or something breaks on the truck, your folks will likely put the blame on you "messing with the truck."

instead of telling him your lifting the truck tell him your upgrading the suspension. don't give him inches of lift. instead tell him the increase in travel and ride comfort from coilovers and UCAs. tell him with those and the TSB or AAL in the back it will ride better and perform better offroad. unless he's afraid you'll take it mudding or trash it offroad. if he thinks your gonna drive it harder if you lift it he won't go for it.

For me it took a few months to convince my dad for lifting the front. I told him I wanted it more level. Then after the front lift I took it to the desert and the back was bottoming out all the time, I told him that about the bottoming out part. But of course he thought it as just because I was offroading. So I was driving him around and went over some bumps and he felt it and bought me the wheeler's 3-leaf. I ofcourse paid for the front lift. I recently got my 33's, and how I did that was I told him the rugged trail tires suced and I need better ones for snow, since I'm going to colorado for college in 2 weeks (from today), and I told him which ones and he didn't know I was getting the larger ones but he knows I go offroading and the bigger tires will help with ground clearance.
