3" suspension lift

3" suspension lift

I am getting a 2008 Tacoma here shortly and already have on order a 3" lift kit that has add-a-leafs for the back and a 3" strut spacer for the front, the truck stock I think has 265/70R17 tires/wheels, will I be able to fit a 285/75R16 with any problems after the lift? I think that conversion comes out to like a 33"X11" right? I do not wish to do any trimming since the truck will be brand new, and with the add-a-leaf in the back, will the stock Bilstein shocks in the rear be sufficient or will I need to upgrade to a longer shock? The kit also comes with a differential drop so I will not change the angle of the front axles.

Even with the diff drop, it will change the angle of the axel. The OEM Bilstiens are not made for a lift, and you may have an issue with the shocks "topping out". A simple switch to some 5100's should fix the problem. AS for the tire size, you will have some rubbing, but to what degree depends on the wheel back space, and such.

Thank you, the wheels I think I am going to get are moto metal 16X8 that have a 4.5" inch backspacing, the 5100's are those made by Bilstein?

You will rub with a 285/75 no matter what wheels you are. Trimming is going to be necessary. Its not that much. You could go untrimmed and see where you have a problem area and then just trim there. That way you don't do anything that you don't have to.
