Quick Question: Whats this half leaf?

So I was pondering ways to lower my rear end slightly to balance it better with my front end and I was looking at my leaf pack wondering if it'd be ok to lose a leaf even though I've only got a 5 leaf pack on it, when I noticed that the top leaf only travels forward and it doesnt wrap around the bolt. Its just above all the others. Not sure if it providing much help suspension wise so I thought this may be the right way to lose some hight back there. Am I correct? Or would that be a bad idea?

That leaf is an overload spring and provides extra help when carrying more heavy loads. I THINK the spring rate/stifness is higher.

Ohhh. I thought the overload leaf was the small on at the bottom of the pack. Only extening a few inches forwar and back.

It is. LOL. I read your post wrong, I thought you were talking about the lower leaf, not the top one.

Ha gotcha. No worries. I really dont get what this thing is for, I mean it must have add some spring, but its gotta be very minimal. I'll try to get a picture of it and throw it up. Thanks for the response though man.

looks like it may have been put in as a helper spring to reduce axle wrap and vibes.
