2" all around- suggestions?!

I have a 2006 TRD Sport double cab short box, and I want to add a lift kit for a bit meaner stance. I like the ride of the stock truck as it is, but going a bit stiffer is fine, just don't want it really rough. The truck is stock other than 265/70-17 Revo 2 tires, and I drive it mostly on road with some off road, and I also use it to tow a trailer with dirt bikes, maybe a camper in the future. I was looking at getting 5100's all around with the fronts at 1.75, and a 1.5/ 2" AAL for the back, as I want a bit of rake...right now the rear is about 1" higher than the front, and I like it that way. After a bit of digging I've read thet the 5100's at 1.75 can be stiff, so I was considering using a lift spring...maybe a 884/ 885 or something like that? I was also considering the Toytec OME lift kit without using the spacers, but wondered if this would lift me higher than I need, and would require new UCA's, which I do not want to do. Anyone have any recommendations for me? 1.75-2.5" would be primo, but again, I don't want to have to get into UCA's, and I also want a somewhat nice ride still... All opinions would be appreciated.

I've put the eibach springs with the billy 5100's in the front of my truck set at .85. According to the math (1.6+.85), I was supposed to get 2.45 inches of lift total, but after settling it's more like 2.1 inches. As for the back, I've got the rear leaf TSB and I'm just waiting for a sunny day to put my 1.5 AAL and rear 5100 in.

So far I've liked the ride with the new spring and the 5100's. I've never felt the stock spring with a 5100 though. Hope this helps your research.

 

Thanks. I've read that the eibach springs provide less lift on a 4x4 D-cab... 2.1" would be nice with a 2" AAL. How is your alignment? Did you have to get UCA's?

 

i've got the OME with added spacer, fantastic ride for me, yes a bit rougher, but i'm over 3" higher. i don't see the need for UCAs, it wanders every which way but i'm not paying 800 to fix that. OME coils on stock shocks is going to ride like hell so if you're going to do it, do it right.

 

Yeah, I would be either getting 5100's with a lift spring, or the whole OME lift kit, but I don't want to have to get UCA's and I want it to drive correctly as my wife also drives it from time to time, and I don't want it to wander on the highway, or in the winter.

 

Yeah...wandering "every which way" does not sound very safe. Not good when it wanders into on-coming traffic...just as you look down to change songs on the MP3 player.

I'm listening as well. I would like 2.5" lift w/out new UCA's on my 09 DC Sport shortbox.

 

I just put them on last week so I haven't gotten it aligned just yet. Luckily it's nice out and I've been able to take my bike just about everywhere. From reading others posts, I'm not sure the UCA's are needed with anything 2.5 inches or less.

 

Man, that would be nice to get 2" all around and still have a nice ride, and not have alignment issues. I've read some posts where people had the 5100's at 1.75 and had to get new UCA's?!

i know you're talking about billys and whatnot. but if you don't really offroad and want the same amount of lift, the spacers and aal worked for me. the ride and steering are exactly the same as i had with stock and it's cheaper than the other options. it gives you the look you want, same ride, and all, you just don't really need to off road with spacers and aal. now if you plan to do some serious off roading, then just ignore my .02 cents. but if not, you should consider this. i have 2.5 in the front and 1.5 in the back.

 

you also won't need any new ucas or anything like that, just a good alignment

 

I do offroad when I go back home to BC, and it is moderate off roading. I want to stay away from the spacers as I've read that they are bad for topping out, and putting stress on the front end components. I think I'm mostly drawn to the OME full lift kit without the spacers, and the 884 springs. I wonder if that would get me the 2" I'm looking for?
