Was wondering if i could get a 2.5" spacer lift to mount on top of the coilover, and then put a set of billstein 5100 adjustables and set them at 1.75 to get a total of 4.25" of lift?
any help or advice would be great, on a budget but can't decide how to lift it up.

You can get a 3" from Toytec for $299. After that get a set of wheel spacers and mount your 285s on your stock wheels.

I have never heard of them breaking.

I personally don't have experience with them, but I have never heard of anybody really having a problem with 'em. I'm gonna be using them to fit 285/75 Muds on my truck in October. So we will see.

To run any 285s you will have to trim. Sure you can fit them, but trimming is necessary.

what about a 2.5" top plate spacer and billies set at .75" for a total of 3.25" lift, would that work?

It would work right up until your ball joints broke. :)

Every manufacturer out there says not to run the 5100s giving any lift along with spacers.

If you want 3" of lift, a is your most economical way to go.

You are going to be over stressing the ball joints. Thats why it wont work. You will not have ANY down travel, which is needed to have a working suspension.

so would you recomend the billies or a top plate spacer (I can get the spacers a lot cheaper)

If your looking for more than 3" lift, go with the spindles. If thats not enough, get a drop bracket lift.
Otherwise, if your on a budget, get the 5100's.

    5100s.

    Better ride than the spacers.

Ok, let me brake it down; Lift/cheap = problems!!! Look for what you really want and invest in an applicable setup...

If you want cheap, dont think more is better. A 2.25" is that, double stacking= issues. go with what is out there, do your research and you will be alright...

alright, I've got it down to this, top plate spacer or bilstein 5100 adj.
I've read every forum on this site and my wifes gonna kill me (too much time talking w/ you guys) I still can't decide which way to go.

06 Prerunner, little off-roading nothing serious, but i still want a good ride that will last as long as the truck will, I don't mind if it firms up a little bit.

Whatever I get the most replies about is what I'll go w/
