How much will the lift affect ride quality?

I'm getting ready to buy/install a 3" lift and put BF GOODRICH all terrains on my truck. The tire size will be 285/70/17. The lift will be a spacer up front and an add a leaf in the rear.

With that being said...How much, if at all, will it affect my ride quality. My truck drives like a caddilac right now and I'm worried I'm gonna ruin it. Will I hate it and regret my decision? Will a block in the rear be better? Needing some feedback, please.

 

I'm assuming your going with an AAL in the rear. Much better choice than blocks.

The spacers will make the ride of your truck stiffer, but not uncomfortably so. I personally prefer a stiffer ride anyway. Also, you're stepping up to a great set of tires. You won't regret it, especially after you see how good it looks.

Where you getting your lift installed?

 

your ride will stiffen up little bit (IMO). I've got 3" spacers in the front with AAL's in the rear of my TRD sport. Truthfully i Like the way It made the suspension, the truck seams to love the back mountain roads of east TN and west NC. It holds corners very well. All in All you will loose a little bit of the Cadillac feel but my double cab long bed still cruises the highway very nice

 

I'm gonna get the work done sometime in mid september. I want to have the EXTRA cash to pay for it instead of charging it. I think I'm going to install the lift myself. I have the equipment and do okay turning wrenches so I think I can handle it. Although, I am going to get a quote from a professional install. If its not outrageous i'm gonna consider it.

Dark Knight, did you install a differential drop?

 

yes, 1" Diff Drop. and if your mechanically inclined do the install your self and save the $350 the 4x4 shop will probably charge. It can be done in a day, took me a weekend due to work schedule, no air wrenches and the case of beverages we enjoyed during the job but it was worth it. Make sure you have a friend to help, putting those front coils back in, with the spacers on'em takes some extra hands and some muscle.

 

T4. I'll probably go that route. My friends will work for beer anyway.

im not really sure yet.....but i know we are aiming for the fall........maybe late october or november. im gonna talk to jhodge83(jamie) and we will see what we can plan dude. its a kick ass time man.....camping out and trail riding and all.....and of course........drinking by the camp fire!!!

Have to agree with Dark Knight, had mine done less than a month ago, Toytec spacer, AAL in the rear. I went ahead and got Total Chaos UCA's, just today we installed them, and I will say the ride changed...for the better. Still somewhat stiff, and not the caddy ride. But a whole lot better than before.

 

IMHO its better. I have always thought that a "Quality lift", descent tires, "know how", makes for a better riding vehicle. I mean your going from OE (Stock) parts/accessories, to After market parts. You also have a safer view on what lies ahead corners, traffic, etc...my $.02
