flipping bottom leaf spring?

Does anyone have any experience with flipping the bottom leaf spring to maximize lift? need another inch clearance (already have a 1" block) to create enough room for new 17" wheels with bfg mud-terrain ko 285/70 tires. Would adding a leaf be more practical?

You mean the Factory overload leaf ? The really thick one? I wouldnt flip that one. The leafs would hit it and it would slam , that leaf is stifff. Yes add a leaf is a way better idea.

You will end up breaking the overload if you flip it. It's not designed to flex.

my friend has the 1st gen and re-arched each leaf and flipped the overload. its still driving fine. gave him a good lift but took a while to do. i drove the truck and it felt alright too.

just saying...

turning over a new leaf...

or at least installing one...lol...thanks guys...just didn't want to payout the cash for new springs just yet. I'll try adding a leaf and see if that will get me by, at least for a little while...
