on my 06 prerunner I have 5100's in the front but the rear is still stock, no TSB, nothing. at first i was just going to go with 5100's in the rear too and call it good. Then I read a few things about people over extending them and tearing them apart. I was looking into the icon 1.5" leaf pack and the bilstein 5150's instead of the 5100's. has anyone ran these? would I run into the same prolem with these as I would with the 5100's?

would the 1st gen ones work on a 2nd gen?

You'll basically want to measure your extended on collapsed lengths of your leafs without shocks. Then pick a shock that matches. The 5150's and 5125's will need an eye to stem adaptor and will add and inch to the measurements. I have that same aal with the overload in and get 25.5" extended and 16" collapsed depending on bump stops. I got the 9.24" 5125's and added a spacer under the bumps to not bottom them out!

that's a good start. I didn't know about the adapters. I am mainly trying to get more travel with out lifting it more than 1.5" so that when I adjust the 5100's in front to 2.5 I'll still be able to get level. will I need to do a u flip kit or extended bump stops with this setup or would I just need the leaf pack an shocks?

the 5150's are too long to be run without a lift, and their built in resi's make them great shocks.

however DSM has extended 5100's that will not be damaged by a lift, so it depends on your budget

Without the TSB and just the Icon 1.5" AAL you'll more than likely be just fine with the standard 5100's.

I'm running a TSB pack and the same Icon 1.5" AAL but I kept the overload leaf in place giving me 2" of rear lift (the install instructions for the AAL tell you to remove the overload leaf but there is no harm in leaving it in place but it will give you slightly more lift). I've got standard length 5100's and am just fine. If I was a hard core off roader and flexed the shit out of my rear suspension, I might start having problems but down mild trails I've found I have plenty of room to articulate and have not topped the shocks out yet.

As far as the install, you'll need an angle grinder and basic hand tools. No flip kit needed or extended bumps. If you go with a longer shock though, you might need extended bumps. Talk to DSM and confirm with them. You want to make sure you hit the bump stops before you bottom out the shock!

so even if I get the 5150's the same extended and collapsed length as the 5100's they will still be too long because of the adapter?

so I found wheelers 1.5 in leaf pack and people seem to say good thing about them and like the leafs from them, so I think Ill try those. I am still wondering though, 5100s in the rear or 5150? the 5150 ext/coll. lengths are 22.5/14.17 which are the close to the 5100 specs. 22.94/14 (for the 0-1.5 lift) but the 5150s need to eye-to-stem adapter which adds an inch so will the 5150s end up being to long at that point?

They should be as your compressed measurement should be around 16" but it may vary! Id check to be sure if you are set on running that shock, otherwise get the 5100's and call it a day!

Call Downsouth Motorsports and talk to those guys. They also sell the Icon 3-Leaf AAL which is the same as the Wheelers one if you want to get everything at the same place.
Also, read the bottom of page 7 and top of page 8 of this thread:

Hey AdamW, Did you get the AAL done?? Which way did you go and what results have you had??
I have a 2010 TRD sport and got the TSB done. Now that sagged, I want to add a little more lift. I want to do the AAL 2", as you did. My question is: Did you change shocks?? I have the Black shocks that they installed with the TSB. I am wondering if I need to order the Bilsteins or the black one is fine.
Did it change the ride much when you added a AAL to the TSB?
    Thanks
    David

I still have not done this yet. but dont have the tsb done so I would just be adding the 1.5 aal. if you are leaving the tsb in and then adding another aal i think you will be needing shocks at that point.
