Is there a difference?

These are two kits from downsouth and the prices are different but i dont know why. the only difference i see is "RCD/Bilstein" on the bottom one. Can anyone
explain?

I would check with Marco from DSM....those are essentially the same thing but one is made specifically for a company called RCD (Race Car Dynamics)!

The RCD one's do not have a threaded collar that I can tell, they still have the c-clip with the 3 different settings! RCD makes the 4" drop bracket lifts and bilstein makes a longer rear 5100 shock for them....that's what I'm running!

Also, each truck is different so having the ability to fine tune the lift is nice.....hence a coilover shock!

 

This comes up ALL THE TIME....we have made attempts to put the info here on TW in various threads, but a search doesn't always take you right to the correct post.

Here is the real deal...

We have posted pictures in our TW member gallery of the shocks side by side, boxes and all. Other than the 'RCD' labeling on the RCD shocks, there is no way to tell the difference. Even the hardware bag numbers are identical.

As far as what we have been told, there is a slight variance in the valving, but neither Bilstein nor RCD will say what the actual difference is. Per RCD the valving difference is so minor, there is no noticeable difference when driving the vehicles. Unofficially...I guess there had to be a certain change in valving in order for RCD's private label deal to happen.

We buy the RCD shocks at a cheaper cost, and as such we pass along all the savings to you guys. If anyone feels the 'Bilstein' valving is worth paying the extra money for -by all means, they are listed on our site, and a discount code is still available for you guys to use on them; but the RCD shocks will still be cheaper, until they raise their price.
