OME 885 or 886 Steel or Aluminum?

This is a follow up thread to my request for recommendations for added load capacity. That thread was very helpful and has given me the direction I need to pursue.

The other thread basically got me to an OME lift kit with 885s and Dakars. I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and get the UCAs as well. I don't do any off-roading except for some serious beach driving while loaded down and some construction site stuff.

Since I decided on the lift, I have fallen in love with front off road bumpers and I simply must have one. I have narrowed it down to DO or Relentless in Aluminum and a few others if I want to go with steel, mostly based on looks and weight.

Were I to do aluminum, I would simply stick with the 885 plan and that would be that, unless I hear otherwise.

But, there are some longer lead times with aluminum and I am considering having a 2" receiver installed up front which DO does not offer in Aluminum, not sure about Relentless. So, to make a long story short I am also considering Steel up front.

I do not plan on having a winch, unless I need to mount it to the 2" hitch for emergency purposes. In 12 years of driving that beach, I have never needed a winch. The hitch is mostly to accommodate a fishing basket that I put up front.

So do I need 886 coils with a steel bumper or do I just stick with the 885s. Not planning on doing anything with the back.

Looks like I will doing the lift before bumper. Thanks. and 2013 DCLB

If you go steel , 886's would carry the weight best but you will get 3" of front lift and you said you don't plan on doing anything to the back so maybe 885's would be OK as any sag wouldn't be an issue for you unless you want Bro Lean

Dakars in back 2.5", I did not plan on doing a new bumper in back.

Kind of a grey area here with the bumper.
A new steel bumper up front gives me a net gain of (120(steel)-40ish(OEM))=80lbs, but the 886s are for 110+, not sure if that is net or gross on the weight add.

I definitely need to be level or high in the back running in town and not loaded. No bro desired at all.

Sorry , misunderstood your post

If you are going with Dakars out back , I would go 886's up front as you will want the amount of lift they provide so you retain factory or just under factory rake

Are 886's the same spring rate as the 885's, just longer?

No

884s and 885s are 590 ftlbs , 886 are 660

885's are 10 mm longer than 884's

I believe 886's are a further 10mm longer than 885's but not 100% sure on that one

886'S are both longer and higher rate than 885s. I have 885's with the Allpro Expedition bumper (no winch yet) and a 20" lightbar. I only lost .25" front lift. I'm at 2.5" lift up front now. I never ran the .25' spacer for the full 3' lift on the 885s. I had the OME's on for almost 2 eyars before the bumper.

I went from perfectly level to a slight rake. I selected the 1.5" AAL with no TSB AAL for my kit.
