FOX 2.0 vs 2.5 Coilover

I apologize in in advance but I was unable to find my answer in the other suspension threads and tried a searching for it too.

This information will help others too.

I have several suspension questions...

I have narrowed it down to FOX brand suspension products for the lift on my 2009 Tacoma (4 door Long Bed 4x4)

What is the difference between the Fox 2.0 and the fox 2.5? What does the 2.0 and the 2.5 mean. Is that the diameter of the spring or the shock? :notsure:

Also, why is the 2.0 Fox Coilover cheaper if it has adjustability to it?

If you have a choice, which one would you get, the 2.0 or the 2.5 Fox Coilover?

2.0 and 2.5 refers to the diameter of the shock body. The 2.5 holds more oil, so as to stay cooler longer. Depending on the wheeling you do, the 2.0's may work just fine for ya.

The shock bodies are ether 2" or 2.5" but they both have the same spring right

Hmm...I never checked to see if the springs are the same size....I know they are the same spring rate.

Springs are different. A 2.5" coilover requires a 3.0" inner diameter spring. The 2.0" coilover uses a 2.5" I.D. spring.

What kind of wheeling do you do?

OK i guess that makes sense... that if the shock is bigger then the spring has to be bigger diameter. But I assume they have the same spring rate of #650.

I will only be doing minor wheeling, nothing too crazy.

Money is not really an issue here.... I just want the better of the two. Just from my little knowledge, it seems that the 2.0 would be a better choice because of the adjustability factor.

What would you chose? Can someone put a poll on this thread to choose between the 2.0 adjustable or the 2.5 coilover.

In your case you say minor wheeling, in my case i would go with 2.5" cause it suits my needs, but you seem like you would be happier with 2.0 but if money isnt a factor go with 2.5"

I have the 2.5's with the remote reservoirs because I need as much fluid as possible in the shocks to help keep them cool. I'm also not opposed to opening up the shocks and revalving the them internally to get the ride just right.

For light wheeling, or even hardcore wheeling that isn't continuous high-speed stuff, the 2.0 shocks will be an excellent choice for their performance and easy tunability.

i run the 2.0's on mine.. unless you are going to be doing alot of high speed offroad traveling they will do just fine. i love how mine preform offroad and the onroad ride is like a caddy!!!

I voted for the 2.5" Might as well have the best and never have to worry about it right. More cooler oil = longer performance with less shock fade. Run the 2.5's with some Camburg or Total Chaos upper control arms and have fun.

From what I'm reading, the 2.5s perform better offroad. Will the 2.0s perform better onroad, or will the 2.5s beat them there as well?

The 2.5s are better all around and well worth the money. Your on road quality will depend on how much preload (lift) you have on the springs.

I believe thats a very good deal. comes with everything you need so have a bad ass suspension.

Off Road Warehouse is a big company in southern California. It is indeed legit. It went there yesterday and they a hard time believing the deal and had to call corporate to verify the what the website stated. It think I am going to make the purchase tomorrow.

It came out to:
$2179.00 (Merchandise)
$497.00 (Labor)
$17.00 (Misc)
$192.15 (Wonderful California Tax)

$2885.15 (Total)

But I think I am going to install the lift myself with the help of my pops, then get it aligned following the install. That will save 500 bucks

save the $500 bucks.its not a hard install at all if you have a little machanical background.i couldnt believe how easy it was when i did mine.good luck.

so i'm probably going to order from ORW today since its payday. Correct me if i'm wrong but I still need to buy a 1.5" AAl for the rear correct? I have an 09 DC that DOES NOT have the TSB done.
