FIRST truck. FIRST post. FIRST question...

    Hey all. Haven't even picked it up yet, but I've got an '09 TRD Offroad on the way. Coming from the Jeep world I can't wait to start tweaking the thing... except, of course, for the $ issue. There's always the $ issue...

    Anyway, I've been pouring over lift options and even with all the info I've still got a question.

    For the front, which would you prefer/is better?

    1) Swap the OEM Bilsteins for 5100s (still using the stock springs)

    OR

    2) Swap the stock springs for OME ones (still using the stock Bilsteins)

    Looking for that magical 2+" lift that doesn't require tons of other mods.


    Thoughts? Thanks!

    5100's are usually the way to go. You can always upgrade them to Toytec Coil overs later (that's what I did).

Camburg Spindles, All Pro front fenders.
    As far as I know you cannot use the stock shocks with the OME springs. You either have to buy 5100's or the OME shocks. I have the OME coils (885's) with the OME shocks front and rear. I like it. Its a little extra money to get the OME shocks too but well worth it. Also, If you plan to offroad, I would get the rear shocks too. Either OME or new Bilsteins. Check out toyteclifts.com They have The ultimate lift with coilovers, and the less pricey OME setup. Both are complete packages for your truck.

    for the quick responses. From reading other threads I was leaning towards the 5100's. Looks like that's the right answer. Now if my truck would just show up...
