OME Coil Questions

I'm a little confused. I see wheelers offers OME coils and has 880's 881's and 882's. It says 881's for extra cabs, 882's for double cabs or with a bull bar. Alot of other offroad sites sell 884's that say for extra cabs and 885's for double cabs. Why are some offering 881 and 882 and others 884 and 885? Are the 881 and 882 for the first generation or something? How does a 881 and 882 compare to a 884 and 885. I have a 1st generation double cab. What do you guys suggest, So far I am thinking 881 from wheelers offroad?

 

884's and 5's are 2nd gen. The 883 would be good for you unless you have a bull bar or winch, then you would want 882's. Chris can jump in and tell you if i am wrong tho.

 

I got all my stuff from Toytec. They have the 883's.

 

I had 881's on my 96 tacoma (extended cab). It gave about 2" of lift.

Guys who have custom front bumpers will often go with a higher number (like 882's). Those who have both custom bumpers & a winch, will go even higher - but don't quote me on that.

You might want to search this forum - for more specific questions. There might be more people over there who run the different OME coils.

 

i put the 881's on my double cab,with bilstein 5100s at the stock setting, and i gained right at 2 inches of front lift. the ride is good too.

 

Toytec would recommend for the Double cab to go with the OME883 coil.

 

yeah even though i have a 2nd gen, i went with 886, no aftermarket bumper or winch...everybody thought it would be rough as hell and super stiff but really its not at all, most of the time when another taco owners from a meet or something get into my car, they usually compliment how smooth it is...just my 02. i also got 3" of lift with the 886's so i'm assuming the same with 883's, i have DC long bed though too

 

I am planning on getting the 881s and putting them on 5100 Bilsteins on the second notch for my 01 DoubleCab. That is what I have decided would be my best choice after doing a lot of research for the past month.

Also I think I am going to get the OME 5 leaf replacement leafs for the rear, they are supposed to give 1.5 inches of lift.


Does anyone have any comments about this set up? I would really appreciate any opinions you might have.
