2 things:

1. You need to air down some

2. Thats a big fuckin' dog

A locker is always nice but I've gotten by without one (my TRD is my first) since I started wheeling 40 years ago, trust me , you air down proper You'll think you have one..

What PSI do you usually run at offroad? The reason I ask is I just picked up some tire deflators and want to know how to set them properly. They range from 5-20 psi, but the highest they seem to work at is 15.5.

Depends, some tires air down well, some don't , generally I'll run between 13 (lowest) & 15

Thanks. Lowest I've gone on a trail is 20 and they seemed fine. I'll try 15 this summer and see how they do. Load range E tires so I don't know of they'll like it...

When in 4 low, you can apply a little pressure to the brakes, and it will help get power to the spinning wheels. Old school trick

I run 10 psi on my tires. I also have lockers front and rear. They make all the difference in the world.

I only run the rear and front when needed. Mostly when creeping over tough rock gardens

Even with airing down that would have been difficult... A rear locker you could have gotten through that in 2wd.
