Just came back from the dealer with two fresh genuine Toyota oil filters. The filters are marked 90915-YZZD3. My handy chart from a Toyota genuine parts web site lists this filter for the V6 engine. My truck has the 2.7 L 4cyl. and that is what I told the parts guy. Same chart lists the oil filter as 90915-YZZG1 for the 4 cyl. Did this guy give me the wrong filter? Can this filter be used for this application anyway?:frusty:

All the current Toyotas have the same gasket size and threading. When I upgraded from the 4cyl to the v6, the dealership told me I could just use the remaining 4cyl filters I had on the V6. If you look up a filter on Wix or Purolator's website, they only list one filter for both engines.

It will work fine, as long as it clears the shroud deal, it will just be a bit longer.

Thanks. I suspect inventory reduction and corporate standardization will eventually drive Toyota to offer 1 or 2 filters for everything they make. Seems the way of most industries now. $$$
