wheel bearing idea???????

how about this............one of those sharp needle deals that you can get for the end of a grease gun............couldnt you re-grease the wheel bearings that way instead of having to press out/in with new ones?? wouldnt that make them last longer?? i have been thinking about it...since pressing them in and out is such a pita.

 

You can't grease sealed bearings.

 

sure.....if the one side is rubber sealed...then yes you could. thats how these bearings are.

 

thats what i was thinking.......at least get more life outta them. i think i'll give it a try......use some mobil1 synthetic grease or some synthetic "green" farm type grease.

 

Do they have zerk fittings on them, or a plug you could put a zerk in?

 

If you do it periodically, I don't see why not. You can be the test case What is the price of failure???

 

no....just a rubber seal on the side.

hmm...cant remember what i paid for my bearings and seals....and gotta get the abs ring rotor if you have abs...plus pay to have them pressed out/in...........not cheap.
