Oxygen sencor being a mofo

It started to back out now I can't get it to budge. Before I chop it off. Anyone have any tricks? You just don't have any room.

Are you saying it started to come out but now its tight?

The threads on the inside are probably rusted up & dirty. That's why it won't come out. Did you spray PB Blaster (penetrating lubricant) in there? Spray & wait 15 minutes. Spray & wait 15 minutes. Try again.

You can also try alternating.....Spray, loosen, spray, tighten, spray, loosen, spray, tighten.... This will hopefully work the lubrication in there enough to breakup the dirt/rust.

Ya I'm going to keep trying that. It started back out then it stopped. Must be the rust.

 

the are notorious for binding in the 2nd gens

the loosen, soak, tighten, soak method should work

dont force it, because you will destroy the threads on the sensor.

and they are not cheap

Carefully heat with torch(mapp or acetylene), quench with water, try to loosen, repeat if not.
Sometimes they'll come out hot, sometimes a combo of Blaster and heat works. Don't force it. Patience wins the day.

 

Ahh I got in a hurry and grabbed the impacto. It cam out but made it hard to thread in without a thread chaser. Yea no codes. The #2 bank will not be fun in the future.

 

Use some copper antiseize on the new ones. It'll help down the road!
