    Greetings All,

I had my 2004 Tacoma frame treated with the recall undercoating treatment from the dealer 5 months ago after receiving my notice letter from Toyota. The other day I installed a set of Westin Step Bars on the truck and noticed that the undercoating the dealer sprayed on was still wet over the entire frame. After completing the installation of the step bars my hands were covered with this undercoating the dealer sprayed on the frame. Can any one tell me if this undercoating is suppose to stay wet like grease indefinite?

    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

If it's the oil wax type it will stay like that forever.

Don't plan on it remaining on the frame forever though. My dad's frame has less than half of it still on the outside surface. He had it recall sprayed a year and a half ago. The spray is akin to plugging a hole in the bottom of a sinking ship with bubblegum.

His truck frame is rusting again now.

I was told by Toyota dealer that the rust is occurring from the inside out. Sprays won't help.

They rust in both directions. That's why the frames are sprayed on inside and outside as well.

Had the frame recall done on the 2008 Taco. Got a loaner car for free. Got it back the next day. It does have a smell, and it looks like they really hit it hard with the goop. Free is good. They also removed rust before the application.

They had looked at the leaf springs and said they looked good. They too have a corrosion failure recall. Did the seat belt recall earlier. They tightened hardware and replace a weak retractor spring. Very nice.

    Free is good.

Brought my 2005 Taco in for frame recall 5 1/2 months ago. Dealer still has it waiting for parts. Anybody else wait this long? My luck worst winter in new england and I have no truck.
