A little off topic, but your dealer doesn't have to install the lift for your truck's warranty to remain in tact. Now, he could warrant the lift components and the labor but it has nothing to do with your factory Toyota warranty.

See I did not know that. Thanks. On my chevy thet were talking smack because I tightened the torsion bars up for 1.5" of clearance. So a lift won't void factory warranty??? Sorry to de-rail.

There is some sort of law in place that prevents manufacturers from disclaiming responsibility on warranty work just because you have aftermarket parts installed. It's not that black and white, but I'm sure someone will remember the name of that provision and post a link :)

Already irritated .. visited the dealership early September .. still no refund.
Sent two emails about this already, no response. I'll give them one more week. If the refund has still not posted to my car loan I'll drive the 60mi just to kick some ass in person.

Thanks. I almost bought there, but they were only willing to give me 14,000 for my trade in that was one year old and in excellent condition. Had two other dealers offer me 19,000.

Good luck getting your refund back.

I got the toyota ext. Plan. The truck is at the shop now getting a new rack and tie rod ends for the popping sound. New front diff seals and a new idler pully for the serp. Belt that makes my truck sound like a turbo taco. So yes I'm glad I spent the money then cause I don't have 2g to spend now

They had the model I wanted, and I didn't want to wait for my local Toyota dealership to 'get' that vehicle for me. I just got word back that a refund check for $1,111.97 will be sent to my financial institution today.

Next step: as soon as it posts to the loan, talk to a loan specialist and have that money taken back OUT of the loan, and sent to me. I was told they can do that. (The dealership did NOT want to give me my own money back directly).

Got 8/12000 platinum bumper to bumperfor $1270 ($100 over dealer cost) and also bought the additional 3/60000 factory maint for $700 to add to the 2/24000 free maint from the dealer. I'll let you know if it was worth it in 8 years or 120000, whichever comes first. ;)

I work at a Bank,, and don't know that we send the customer a check on a Warranty refund. If you get a check from your bank let me know i'd be highly surprised.
just an FYI. when a Bank finances a car/truck with a warranty they pay the whole amt;; Wrty + Car to the Dealer,, who then sends the wrty check to the wrty co. So if the Wrty is cancelled..the process works in reverse.

I'm not an Expert..but my Company does sell Vehicle Service contracts.. so i'll share a little of what i know. You should already know your Taco comes with 3yr/36k bumper to bumper & 5yr/60 Powertrain warranty from Toyota<- the manufacturer not the dealer.

    1. Like Car Insurance, there are different levels of Warranties and Coverage. Anything you buy after the Manufacturer Warranty expires will usually be an Non Manufacturer Warranty (VSC).

    2. Some Toyota Dealers here in the SEast do offer Fidelity Warranties on New/Used vehicles but that still does not replace what the Factory gives you.. it only extends the Coverage.. ie up to 100k or something like that.

    3. Prices for Insurance and Warranty products are Regulated by most states. Some states allow a Flat $ markup while others allow NO Cap on price, which is why Price is diff from 1 State to another on the same Wrty.

    4. GAP (Guaranteed Asset Protection) is "debt forgiveness", and offered by many companies to payoff a balance owed in case of a Total loss, and your Ins co does not pay the full balance of the Loan <-- sometimes when you owe waay more than the car is worth.

    5. All GAP policies are NOT the same. Yes you can pay less..but find out what the coverage is. Example; if you financed 130% of book value or Invoice at time of purchase, some Gap Cos will only cover up to 120%, some cover 150%, some less. So knowing what you're paying for is important or before Cancelling.

    6. Mods can VOID Warranties, there are some that Warranty Co will allow if done at Dealership. But like car Ins. covers you to commute to work and home not out on the race track, a Wrty is there to cover how the Manufacturer built the vehicle to perform and not how You want it to look and perform.

    7. Always ask Questions until you Understand what you're Buying. As bad as they may appear Dealer personnel want you to be Satisfied,, and most know if they explain the Value of the Product you may come back and buy from them :D

I did way back in 2001 for $1780!!! Yup they got me good. I think I heard my truck laughing at that one-because at 95,000 miles, it has kept me free of repair bills!
I have the last laugh though because comparitively, I saved many thousands already:)

I got the 75k warranty on my 2010... Id rather have it then go out of pocket for stuff. It's mainly the reason I traded in my 08. Only had 3k left on that warranty when I did.

Whether I use the warranty or not, I just like to know it's there.... Kinda like a condom on a first date.
