What does everybody think about trying to combine the useful posts in the MANY oil-change threads into a single 'ultimate oil change thread' that could be made into a sticky in the technical chat section and/or the noob section?
My initial thought about the structure of the thread is: Here is the oil filter (picture), here is the oil drain valve (picture), here is the oil cap (picture). Here are the steps to change the oil. (This could be repeated for each engine type.) I don't have time to do something like this, and suggesting that it be done is basically asking somebody else to volunteer his/her time and effort to make it happen. |

Man, I sure wish my oil filter was that easy to get to! ( I have the 3.4) I like that little shield that is around the base of the filter.

I used to do my own oil changes since I was in high school (1994) until I got to own my 2004 Tacoma V6. I did 1 oil change and then I gave up. It's too uncomfortable. Looks like your pictures are for a 4-cylinder Tacoma and it might be easier than changing the oil on a V6.
