2001 V6 4 dr 4x4 Trany Whine :(

    Ok, So I just bought my first Taco. I got a great deal and I now know why. Turns out the old owner took it to the dealer and they informed him that the transmission pump needed to be replaced (he didn't share this with me). The part is about $250 + labor however they recomend just replacing the tranny. Right now there isn't any "clunking" or things just a bad whine while in drive.

    Has anyone replaced that part? I'm guessing a flush and fill won't help much at this point. If I decide to swap the trans what other years will fit?
