'98 2.4 automatic missing

    lifted, and locked
    Run poorly in initial throttle, spit, sput, then will smoothout at hwy speeds. Engine light came on Diagnostic showed PO303. Changed plugs, disconnected batt to clear engine light. I thought this was correct. After several miles of running problem reappeared but no engine light. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:confused:
