Spare tire different rim????

I bought a Tacoma and today I practiced taking down the spare I noticed that the rim is completely different than the rims on the truck Is this normal I do not know can some one tell me please

 

Well, it should have the same number of lug nut holes. ;-)

But aside from that, yeah it's a cheapie steel rim.

 

yea, just be glad its a full size spare and not a crappy donut tire like cars have

 

The spare tire is on a different wheel because the spare is used on several different trucks. Toyota put a steel wheel in the spare location to save money. It doesn't matter if you have 16" steel, 16" alloy, or 17" alloy the spare will fit all trim levels.

 

No chance of a 5 tire rotation... or buying just 3 new Rugged Trails when the first ones wear out (if you would buy those kind again!)... Well, I guess you could swap out the new spare for one of the warn tires and pay for that?

 

Well, at least you have a spare, someone stole mine. Now I'm looking to buy one.

 

What part of CA are you from? I have a spare that I'm looking to unload (I changed tire sizes and replaced my spare tire/rim with an alloy rim and matching tire). The tire is a BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A 265/70R16 and it's on a 6-lug steel rim...
