I bought my Denso's from the dealer and went to auto zone for my gapper. They were all pretty much correctly gapped out of box, with the exception of only one or two. I pulled mine at 40K.

You have some MAJOR issues currently present in your engine. Your spark plugs are covered in oil which points to some serious internal issues. Oil SHOULD NOT be on your spark plugs, and if it it it is usually caused by either worn valve seals, possibly a head gasket leak/blown or even worse piston damage. If it ends up being the later half, you're talking some serious repair work. I'd recommend you get a compression test as soon as possible. The truck may still start and run, but it's only a matter of time before it gets worse.

I have owned several gm vehicles that did not require spark plugs until 100k mi. When I did finally change them usually over 100k mi they looked fine. Why is it the toyota looks that bad at 30k?

There absolutely no way any of one us can answer that question for sure. Remember this is one truck it's not like every single Toyota is going to have oil filled plugs or something at 30,000 miles. I changed mine out at 80,000 and they still looked brand new. His on the other hand not so much but there are just too many possible causes. Who knows maybe it wasn't broken in properly, could be part/mechanical failure, could be an issue with the tolerances from the factory when it was made, could be any of those, or several of those, or all of those combined.

They are the regular copper ones that need to be changed every 30K... the Iridiums are not made for these trucks!
