I was on a Jeep forum (looking for things for my GF's WK) and came across a guy who deleted his EGR (exhaust gas re-circulator) and has it just vent to atmosphere as well as just a block on the intake end to not allow fresh uncalculated air in after the MAF.

What are your thoughts on this?
    Good idea, bad idea?
Gains as far as a cooler IAT?

I dont know say anything that pops into your head!

Contrary to what many people think, the EGR letting a little bit of exhaust gas into the CC (Combustion Chamber) is a good thing. The EGR doesnt allow exhaust gasses into the CC all the time. At idle, and under WOT, it is effectivley blocked off. only during part throttle conditions, does it opperate. It is needed to actually keep the CC temps COOLER, and reduce the levels of nitrogen oxides. Most people that diso the EGR have no idea what it actually does, and think they are gaining performance, when they are not, and to add, in many cases, they can actually be causing more harm to the engine.
