cold air intake = more power
    more power = less milage

No it's not. My statement is compleatly true.

Think about it...cold air is denser.
Denser air means more O2 per volume.
More O2 per volume means more fuel added to the mix
More fuel add to the mix means more power and lower milage.
So then logically the oposite is true...warm air = less power but better milage.

Why do you think cold air intakes say more power? That increase power may be alot, or it may be hardly noticable. The decrease in milage is the same...could be alot, may be hardly noticable. Lots of variables.

Warm air intakes are the same too. Could be alot less power, could be hardly noticable. And the milage increase, could be alot, or hardly noticable.

Again alot of variables need to be concidered, as well as an A.B.A. test.

go to this site...really cool stuff and lots of cool info too. Some people evan have our trucks on this site.

    http://ecomodder.com/forum/fuel-economy-mpg-modifications.php

One other thing to think about...if you were a car/truck manufacture, what would be a great selling point (to sell more vehicles)? Everybody wants more power don't they? Everybody wants better gas milage don't they (great way to save money). Well how about both! If you could make a vehicle have more power AND get better gas milage, would'nt you???

Makes you wonder why Toyota did'nt think of that already???

Most of the products out there are nothing but snake oil.

Not that I'm doubting you, but seems to me that if you have more power then it would take less effort (fuel) to pull the truck, therefore providing you keep your foot out of it, better mpg's, right?

yep, that would be my thinking as well...

why waist money for a couple extra horse power when that is only acheved at 5000 - 6000 RPM. Who drives in that high of an RPM range, unless your racing your truck. I can't see to many people trail rideing at 5- 6 K RPM.

I just installed an AEM Brute Force CAI this past weekend. Don't notice any power difference, but the throttle response is more throaty when you mash it. It was something fun to do on a nice day. Was it worth the money? Who knows.

YES...you do want to say that, and your right, it does sound logical. But unfortunatly that is not reality.

I do not have all the specifics...(that site I gave the link for does...there is alot of egg head scientics there)...but the increased power from the added fuel, does not over come the volume of the addtional fuel.

Each "unit" of fuel has a certain amount of energy. And a certain amount of energy is needed to propell the vehicle. But there comes a point that each added unit of fuel, is not noticablely increaseing the propultion. At that point, you are useing fuel without the benifet of more propultion, at least not any that is really noticable.

I don't know where you live, but I'm in cleveland ohio. My milage drops about 2-3miles per gallon in the winter because of the cold. I partially fixed that this year and made a grill cover for the truck...top and bottom. sealed that sucker up from the cold air coming in on the radiator and engine bay. (still need to get the hoseing for the air intake so I'll use engine bay air, and not the factory intake. all this is just for the winter)

Neat thing is the outside air temp which is infront of the radiator acts like an engine bay thermonitor, so I can monitor incase I over heat. The bay getts about 25 to 30 degrees warmer then the outside air, at least during the winter. I know I'm no where closed to over heating, because the radiator fan never kicks on. Factory thermostat is "closed" at 160F deg. and "open at 180F deg.

Did you go with a larger diameter, to keep the air flow nice and slow, or a small diameter for the turbo charged affect?
