DSC00129.jpgHave not used my truck in a few days. Went into the garage and found this... Tried to remove it with mild cleaner, no luck, looks like it is in the paint. Did not try anything abrasive. I guess I will got to the prep shop at the dealer.

It just appeared. I have no idea where it came from. I tried some wax but it did not come off. Wondering if I should go to the dealer or a body shop?

Thats the craziest thing I have ever seen on paint. I would take it to the shop, but just to see if they know what it is and unless they will do it for free, I would look for like a scratch and dent place to fix it. The dealer will charge you an arm and a leg to fix it. Also, I wouldn't try anything like rubbing compound but did you try waxing it at all?

Is it somehow related to the windshield washer fluid? I know that stuff isn't supposed to harm paint, but maybe it somehow came out of the nozzle and sat on the hood. Just a guess.

Does it feel like it's on the surface? Or underneath?
Maybe Clay Bar...But if it's more serious I'd take it in.
I had a spill like that off the side of my bed and took the clay bar to it for 10 minutes and it came off.

It seems like its in the paint. If something leaked from the ceiling I think there would be drip marks. I have 11 foot ceilings in my garage. Its really strange.

I didn't say wax. I said polish. something like "nufinish" or napa's car renu polish.

Wax is a coating. Polish is not.

What the hell is rapguard? Google didn't reveal much. You sayin like a paint protection film? That can be blowdryed sometimes (I don't put heat gun to paint unless I want it off). But what little I saw of it looks like wrapguard is the film they put on new cars for shipment. Word to the wise, take that off fairly soon... or it gets sticky.

I see the tsb. But didn't search for a free version of it.

I found the TSB But it seems like something that would be noticed at the dealer when the rapguard is removed prior to sale.
Easy enough to follow the instructions in the TSB and see if it works though.

The bluish color makes me think it has something to do with the washer fluid.

Did you get the washer fluid with the de-icer in it?

I looks to me like that is where it came from. I always avoid purchasing washer fluid in the winter because I can't imagine the de-icer is good for the paint, I usually stock up in the summer before they start bringing that stuff in.

The washer fluid is the one from the dealer that came with the truck. I think the stain was there when I bought the truck. You can not notice it when the truck is outside. I just put flouresant lights in my garage 2 days ago, thats how I noticed the stain. Before the other day I just had the light from the garage door opener. You have to look really hard to see it when the truck is outside. I am sure it was there but I never noticed it before. It does look like its washer fluid. I am going to a detail shop someone recomended. I called them and they said they can tell if it will come out or if it has to be repainted. I will post what happens. Thanks

I had something simular to mine. Didn't notice until a few months after a bought the truck. Took it in to dealer and they could not get it out. Had to have the whole hood repainted at body shop. No charge. Sucks to have the hood done on my new truck.

Try a tiny spot with 50/50 vinegar and distilled water. Let it soak for maybe 5 minutes and then wipe it with a very soft cloth, preferably microfiber.
It looks like dried on washer fluid and if your water is hard there it is mixed with mineral deposits.
Once again, a tiny spot......maybe a drop worth close to the washer outlet so it's not obvious.

Just returned from the detail shop. The stain is into the clear coat. The whole hood needs to be repainted. I am going to a auto body shop that is suppose to be one of the best in my area. Going to get a price and see if I will use them or try the dealer.
