cruise drive

Hi I try several time to use my cruise driver but never work some body can help me.

 

I do and the light is on but I loss speed.

 

That same lever that you turned the cruise ON..... look at the stalk, it'll show you how to SET the speed using the stalk itself.

Drive to the speed you want.... PUSH the stalk downward (atleast a second) to SET the cruise speed.

To Accelerate - Push stalk upward and hold (until you get results)
To coast - push stalk downward and hold (until you get results)
To Resume - push stalk upward
To cancel - pull stalk towards you (or step on brakes)

I've discovered (atleast on my truck) that when you move the stalk upward or downward, you have to give it a second....before you get results. You can't just flip it up quick...

 

I dislike the cruise on mine bc every hill it has to shift down. Even small hills. I wish I had a way to lock it in Overdrive!

 

I have found that mine will shift down on the hills too and then speed way up past my set speed

 

Same here mine speeds up way too much and runs way to high on the RPMs. When trying to conserve fuel I turn the cruise off when I reach an overpass.

 

I just bought a 2009 and I like the cruise control better with this truck than with my old Dodge. I have a rather steep hill on my way to work and I used to need a running start to make it halfway up before downshifting and then hitting 5K RPM's to hold 55-60mph. The salesman that I had at the Toyota Dealership was somewhat knowledgable and said that the new 2009 motor has variable valve timing or something so it automatically adjusts the air/fuel flow (I began ignoring him at this point as I knew this was exactly the truck that I wanted to leave there with).

Anyways, my truck hasn't downshifted on this hill since I've bought it and I've tried it at different speeds in the 50-75 range.

 

Yeah exactly. It definatly does not stay anywhere near the set speed when going up and down hills. A little change in speed isn't bad but I'm talking 8 or so MPH range. Im not used to that after all my manual cars.
