How To Change Plugs On 05 Tocoma V6

Just purchased a 2005 Tocoma Pre-Runner with the 4.0 V6 Engine. The truck had only 21,000 on it when I purchased it on 12 April 2007. I converted to Royal Purple Motor Oil immediately and replaced the drain plug with a oil drain off/on valve from Lubricant Specialists. I replaced the stock air filter with a K&N. I am a do-it-yourself and am wondering when the time comes to change the plugs, how will I can access to them. The passenger side appears to fairly easy. It looks like all I have to do is remove the air filer and and can easily gain access to the three plugs there. The driver side looks like a challenge for sure. Any ideas out there please.

Wish I could help, but I have the 4-banger.

Good news - These plugs are extended life, I am going from my horrible memory, but I think you don't have to change them until 50,000 miles. It could be more, but I just woke up and I have a horrible memory.

 

The Service Guide book says that the V6 spark plugs get replaced at 30k miles (not 50k miles). The I4 uses Iridium plugs that are good for 100k, but the V6 plugs (from what I understand) are copper cored, so that makes them 30k miles.

 

the valve is just so you can turn it and drain the oil out, correct? seems much easier.. how much do they cost?

 

O'Rilleys sells a "push and turn" type drain plug for $11 that fits on the Taco too, size M12 x 1.25 IIRC. I chose this one over the drain valve that has a handle because it is less likely to be bumped by something you drive over and lose all your oil.

are these made out of brass, with an o-ring? if so, i may get one for my taco, and one for our honda accord!
