Bought a new Optima Yellow Top how do I get it to fit?



Just picked up a new yellow top and it doesn't fit with the stock wiring setup at all. Even with the adapter kit for a type 27 setup it doesn't fit. The stock battery says its a 27F setup. Whats the difference? I need to extend everything including the power wires and ground from the way I see it. Please someone help. I don't want to return this battery. My stock battery cracked open. The stealership won't replace it under warranty because my truck shows signs of "offroading" ... I only have 28K on it and at 35 months of ownership.

I called toyota corprate and they said there is nothing they can do because they don't own any of the toyota dealerships on the island...

Maybe an auto parts store has a cheapie to get you by for now, then you can keep it as a spare.

"Signs of off roading" violates the warranty on the stock battery on a TRD Off Road?! WTF. Who makes up these rules? It is so, so very bad to treat customers like inconveniences.

And what's this bullshit about Toyota corporate telling you they can't do anything because they "don't own any of the toyota dealerships on the island"??! They sell Toyota's product don't they?! Doesn't matter if they're wholly owned, or franchises. I tell you, Toyota really needs to get it's dealership network in order. Their reputation is definitely on the downswing.

Yep the dealership can deny any warranty work they want out here without repercussion because Toyota dosent own the dealership. Or at least that's what the guy on toyotas 1-800 customer relations line says. Fuck em. I love my truck but I will NEVER buy a new vehicle from them again. Honda and BWM do a great job taking care of my other cars under warranty. Why's Toyota gotta give up so much flack ?

Well I went mudding the weekend before and only rinsed out the engine bay. So I guess there was dried mud on the top of the battery. Plus my skid plate is all banged up so this somehow causes the +terminal of your battery to crack open.

Well the wife and I are moving to Wa soon. We were looking at getting a newer lexus but I'm worried about dealing with a toyota dealership again... Maybe a WRX is a better plan!

I like Subaru. Or at least I did until my wife's engine melted down LOL. We've had 3 of them. The first 2 ( a 1991 and a 1992) were great. Bought both used. No major problems with either. Both went upwards of 150,000 miles before we sold / traded them in.

Our current Subaru is a 2005 2.5L Outback Sport. Wife got 95,000 miles and we had a coolant leak & overheating problem due to a faulty fan sensor and radiator cap gone bad. Thanks to the extended warranty, Subaru fixed all problems (and a couple others we reported) without question. We for example reported that the spedometer was loud (sounded "scratchy") when the car was cold. They agreed, and replaced the entire gauge cluster!

Anyway, about a month after all of this, my wife was driving home and the car just completely choked. Engine started sputtering and running super rough, cutting in and out, check engine light's flashing. It was throwing codes like crazy. We had to tow it to the dealer.

Long story short, they discovered both valve covers were leaking internally. Then they discovered cylinder 4 had zero compression. Then they discovered that the valve guide on 4 had dropped into the cylinder, and was starting to do the same on 1,2 and 3. They replaced both heads. But while they were in there, they pretty much tore everything apart, inspected & shined it up ... all valves, the crankshaft, throttle body and the entire fuel intake system. They replaced the idler pulleys and tensioner just because they were in there (and wrote them off on warranty) and they did the timing belt for the cost of parts only ... a $600 job reduced to $170.

Anyway their service was fantastic, and eventhough we had used an outside mechanic for our required maintenance, they never even questioned it. Never asked to see any paperwork. Just took our word for all of it.

But I tell you ... 95k isn't that many miles on an engine, and that was a major meltdown. Had we not bought the extended warranty at purchase, we would have been out $3-4k easy. Have since found at least 5 other cases of 2005 2.5L 4 cyliners that had a similar problem. Must of been a bad batch of heads from the factory.

Yeah I hear ya bro. This is my third toyota pickup. I still have my first and its sitting at 245,000 miles right now! But.. I really don't like anything their putting out these days. Wife wants a Mini though, maybe I'll take her over to test drive a newer WRX next week.... Sounds like you were treated right!

The difference between BCI Group 24 and 24F is the terminal post placement. Basically it is the same size battery, but the positive and negative terminal posts are reversed.
