Drain fluid, remove pan, change filter, install p[an with new gasket, install drain plug, fill to correct level. :)

If it's an auto, you'll find the dipstick. If it's a manual, you won't. Check the users manual or visit a garage and have the mechanic point it out if you can't find it.

all im gonna say...and only one more time.....there is a specific process you have to go thru replacing the fluid in the tacomas with the "ws" sealed transmission.

hey...i understand completely.....i dont like people f'n with my truck too much either....but some things are better left to the dealership or garage that has the right tools for the job. the fluid in the "ws" trannys has to be heated up to a certain temp and checked that way.....long process.

hell...if i had an alignment machine and tire balancing machine....i'd never go anywhere else!!:D

Wally World sells lighted hitch covers for 12 bucks. Works just like a trailer taillight, lights when the lights are on, gets brighter when the brakes are on. They fit in the receiver, lock in place with the hitch pin, plug into the trailer socket. Looks a heck of a lot better than an open hole and actually serves a purpose. After getting rear-ended I figure the more brake lights the better.

    Well, that's not exactly true.

Some auto trannies, like mine, are the "old school" variety, use the type I-V fluid and DO have a dipstick. Very easy to do a "drain and refill" every so often to keep the fluid good.

The other type of auto tranny will NOT have a dipstick. That's the kind that uses the WS fluid that is supposedly good for 100,000 miles. More complicated to do a "drain and refill" with this type.

Yeah caught that from what tacomaman06 said. I was going off my Haynes for the 1st gen models, they don't mention a "sealed" WS tranny.
