take the engine cover off and see if the maf may be unplugged.....and if its not, unscrew and unplug it and clean it with some electronics cleaner. let it dry for a few minutes, then reinstall.

yeah, a good idea to take it to the dealer probably, since she doesnt know much about whats what on the truck. good call uncle frank!!!

if i was closer......i'd go fix it for her!
