I had to replace the gasket on my valve cover, and plugged everything back up when I was done, but this plug didn't have a male end to plug into.

I can't remember, But I think that it doesn't plug into anything.

Could some one please help me confirm this.

Or take a pic of your engine for me, around the throttle body area to visually confirm.

    Thanks in advance guys!

Every plug has it's own shape, so you can't connect the wrong plugs.

But usually the unused one, is tape back.

If you look at the gray plug to the right of it...that one is taped down, but had it's own plug.

This one was not.... very odd. They are both on the same harness section.

Judging by how very dirty the inside of that connector is, I would have to say that it doesn't plug into anything on your truck.

    Check engine light came on....

I pulled over and went through the engine again.

I found the opposite end behind the plastic timing belt housing, toward the very top.

Went to Advance Auto, they ran a diagnostic and said that knock sensor 1 &2 had an error.

So I suppose that the plug goes tot he knock sensors.

They reset the light and it hasn't come on in 10 miles...so we'll see.

The only thin is that the gray plug has a clip, so it's supposed to clip in to something to keep plug from dangling. I just can't find where it clips in to now.....

yes - that plug is definitely for your knock sensors. Take off the top timing belt cover and you'll find the cable from both sensors which are located in the valley beneath the intake manifold. You may be able to get from the top with out removing cover. That's why you got your error message for the knock sensors
