Timing Belt Change

I have a 2000 SR5 V6 with only 64K miles on it. Everything I read on the internet says that the timing belt should be changed at 90K miles. Toyota, however, says 90K miles OR six years whichever comes first. Hard to believe that the belt could wear sitting in my garage. In any case, since my tacoma is 11 years old should I change it, or wait till 90K miles??

Thanks

Rubber deteriorates over time. It is the same reason tires go bad. I would probably change it. At least if it breaks there will be no engine damage on that engine.

Its better to be on the safe side an change it than assume its fine and have it break and send a piston into a valve. 11 years, I think its had a good life, just change it
