Pop & Lock has one also but neither has a failsafe feature. I have a bedcover that locks from underneath and I have to open the tailgate to unlock the cover. If an electric lock fails in the locked mode I have a real problem. Looking at the installation instructions of the of both electric locks it looks like both have to installed by removing the access plates on the inside of the tailgate. So if the lock fails closed you have to take everything apart which requires access.

Thanks for the tip for those who can use it.

while looking for the tailgate theft forum you were looking for, heres teh link with a video, instead of clicking right on the "mods and tutorials v" area at the top, just highlight it and watch the topics show, what you did was click on the top one and start a thread under cheap mods.... DONT do that, follow the list down there is one called "PREVENT TAILGATE THEFT MOD" I'm heading to walmart now to get some of those clamps and put one on my tailgate, wish me luck, as I'm retarded to anything about trucks, hahaha... good luck to ya and I hope this helps you

I got one of those key clamps at walmart and installed it in the parking lot, took longer to pull the key off when done than put it on. I keep a set of all my spare keys in a secret place (not on my truck) for toolbox, fuel cap, door, and now tailgate-hose-clamp. I never want to but another type of hose clamp again.

I just went to my local Walmart in Poway, CA. The guys working in the automotive department told me they discontinued them. They knew about them and even described them to me. They are called Turn-Key Clamps they said. So.... I went to AutoZone, Dixieline, Cheif Auto Parts, Napa Auto Parts, and Kragen. Kargen finally had them. $3.99 for two. Size #20 5Y020V. They didnt have the inch measurement on the packaging. As a side note...... AutoZone and Dixieline had the regular ones, but I wanted the ones with the removable key.

I went a step further and mounted a couple of eyebolts. one to the bedrail and one to the tailgate. Easy mod, unobtrusive, and the tailgate is locked upright when I have the bedcover on.

Is that set-up with the cable and the hose clamp like wearing a belt and suspenders at the same time?

Another good anti-theft would be to take a big sledge hammer and dent the hell out of your tailgate. Then, they won't want to steal it.

I took it a little further and painted my clamp black and then installed it where you have to gain access from the bottom..FWIW

im thinking 1/2 in zip ties might work just as well
especially if you spin them so you cant get to the zipper

    Weld that bitch on there.

Why would you have to take your tailgate off anyway?
