Hood Release not working

Hello all,
The hood on my 02 Taco wont release. The interior lever came out with cable still attached as it should but the hood is not releasing. It is still completely latched.
I cant figure out how to unlatch the hood from the outside.

Can anyone help with this?

Try gently jostling the hood. It's possible that something is stuck in the
release mechanism; then a few squirts of lithium grease/WD 40 once opened.

My release mechanism also had issues when I first bought the truck(2001).

 

Take your fist and just pound it hard in middle of the hood where latch is...I have a few friends with trucks like that..one's a 97 Tacoma..

 

How did you get your hood relessed? I have a 2002 and the same thing happened to me today. Is there another way to release the hood?
