TSB QUESTION

Hi guys. I have an 05 tacoma and I was wondering if I can still get a tsb done even though I bought my truck secondhand? My steering column shakes when going over bumps. I get letters from toyota about these tsbs

Sadly they are only covered by the 3 year 36k warranty.

I find it odd that Toyota decided to include the steering intermediate shaft replacement as part of the Toyota Comprehensive warranty (3yr/36K) instead of the power train warranty (5yr/60K).

OP, there have been reports of some dealers working with customers to split the cost or reduce the costs for these repairs for trucks out of warranty. I would encourage you to go talk to a dealer/service advisor and find someone who may be willing to help.

You can get it but not for free.
TSBs are not like recalls that have to be done at no charge. They are just an identified issue that has been published for Toyota techs to help them diagnose common issues.

What's it feel/sound like when this is needed? Both of my Taco's have felt odd when on rough, dirt fire roads, especially when in 4x4. Sort of a knocking (dull), not so solid feeling coming from the front. Would this be it?
