Lots of good information on here

AWD is for everyday use and cannot be turned off. Light duty use. 4x4 can be turned off and uses heavier duty components.

I seldom read manuals, so I never thought about the 4x4 lubrication. This is a wake up call. Love reading the threads!

The last time I used the 4hi and 4lo was at 20K miles. I've been working a lot more in a desk, so now it's 55K and has not stepped on dirt since.

If I use it in 4x4 now, what will I expect?

Also, my wife has Hummer H3. It's a full time 4WD. Should I engage the 4hi and 4lo sometimes too?

The differentials on the H3 will be lubricated constantly so I don't see that being an issue.

    Good to know.

I guess I'll start engaging 4x4 of my '05 taco when I get out from this desk. I'll do it now!
