need help abnormal brake wear

so my drivers side front wheel has been making a strange noise like metal rubbing against metal and it was bugging me so i took the wheel off and my rotor has all these grooves in it anybody know what is causing this

 

Dirty or worn out pads are my guess.

all in all it doesn't look that bad judging by the pictures.

 

yeah the pictures dont look that bad but when compared to my passenger side it is really bad and my brake pads are at about 50%

 

If you have the original pads on your 05, you probably need new ones. When pads get worn down enough, they will squeal as a safety precaution to let you know they need changed.

 

but they dont make any noise when braking just when the wheel is spinning

 

Sounds like bearings, not breaks my friend

My experience with bad bearings is a sort of "wub" sound that increases or decreases in repetition with speed. If the bearings are bad enough you can usually feel vibration in the steering wheel.

Take a look at you wear indicator on your brake pad. If they are really bad it is possible the indicator is touching with out brakes applied.

The best way to troubleshoot this would be to jack up the front end and remove the wheel, spin the rotor and see if you can duplicate the problem. If so remove the pad and give it another spin. If the noise still persist I would go for the bearing.



Our wear indicators look a little bit different but, this should give you an idea.

 

for awhile i thought it was the bearing but how would that create the groves in my rotor when my pass side one is smooth
