Mixing different Mobil 1 oils

OK... I don't think this question has been answered...

I just purchased oil for my next oil change. Due to economics, I purchased:
  • One 5-qt jug of Mobil 1 10w-30 "Extended Performance" Full Synthetic
  • One 1-qt container of Mobil 1 10w-30 Full Synthetic (NOT Extended Performance)
I can't see anything different between the oils except for the "Extended Performance" oil says it will go 15k miles. I only plan to go 5k miles anyway.

My question is this... Is there any reason I can't mix these two oils? They're both Mobil 1, they're both Full Synthetic. It will be 5qts of Extended Performance, and .5 qts normal.

Honestly?
I think it's all the same oil - it's just marketing. They use that as a tool to see which 'marketing gimmicks' work best.

I remember a few years back when Excedrin started putting out the Migraine headache version. I compared the ingrediants and they were exactly the same. I asked a Pharmacist about it and even they said "it's the same pill"

Put the extended in last....that way the other stuff will drain first. Problem solved!

Thanks. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

I actually thought I'd do that. It makes sense to me. I figured I'd put the normal stuff in first, then let it settle while I changed the tailgate differential fluid, then put the extended stuff in.

The "extended" oils have more addatives, however, I have had the best oil samples useing the regular "Fully synthetic" Mobil 1 oil.
