Anti-Static Strips
Ah... The changing of the seasons. Autumn has returned to Ohio and with it the annual loss of ambient humidity My '09 Tacoma started handing me static shocks upon entry and exit a few days ago.
Is there an effective method to ground the truck to prevent this? I had a pair of supposed conductive rubber anti-static strips hanging from my '05 4Runner with little or no relief.

rubber isnt conductive and wouldnt discharge any static you have built up...do like the guy above said and just touch your car to the sheet metal and youll discharge all the static build up

he may be refering to the steel impregnated static strips like what they use on boomlifts and forklifts that have solid rubber tires. I know they use these mounted to the frame and dragging the ground. This could be done if the static was bad enough, it would just look funny under the truck, not to mention everyone would stop you to tell you that something was falling off of your truck.

when living in colorado, which is a very dry state and you always have electro-static discharge concerns, I always made sure to touch my truck bed far away from the fuel fill door when I was re-fueling.

I used to run the static stips when I worked in the plants. The work, but like stated above people will tell you that something is hanging.
