Wet Okoles Stink!

I just finished a 5000 mile trip and my seats now smell awful. As a paddler, I know how rank wetsuits can be and I fear I will not be able to kill the smell completely. Other than neoprene shampoo and MiraZyme, does anyone have tricks for cleaning the seat covers?

What do people do who live in hot humid climates do, Not sweat?

 

coming from a guy who's downstairs toilet backflowed, flooding my hall and part of living room last week, a dehumidifier is an amazing machine. whole lower floor smelled quite literally like shit for 3 days. once that dehumidifier did its work, smell is gone. . . . carpet guy is coming tomorrow, but in terms of funk, the dehumidifier worked great.

 

I haven't experienced it yet with my WOs, but I've had other neoprene covers before and by the end of the summer in S. Texas where I was working at the time, the driver seat was pretty rank from the sweat.
I pulled it out and pressure washed it.

 

I take mine out once or twice a year and wash them with the shampoo from Wet Okole. I haven't experienced them smelling yet and I do sweat on them. I'm starting to want some seat covers that won't make my back or legs sweat.

 

Is there a dehumidifier that runs on 12volts?
Not sure how I can make that work.

 

Run the A/C, it pumps in dry air and will act as a dehumidifier. Doesn't have to be on cold for it to work.

run a drop cord out to your truck with the dehumidifier sitting somewhere inside, roll up and/or block off the window as much as possible, let her run all night.

 

Another reason to get leather seats instead of neoprene seat covers.

 

you must go some serious B.O. going on. my suggestion would be soak the seat covers in a bath tub filled with a good smelling wet suit shampoo.

 

I used synthetic Holstein Cow to cover my seats and it's warm in the winter and cool in the Summer.

Please note: No synthetic Holsteins were harmed in the making of my truck.
