I have a friend that has a 2010 dc trd OR and his speedo and odometer stopped working. I told him I would ask here for some advise before he spend time at the dealer fighting with them. He recently installed aftermarket hu with gps. Could that have anything to do with it? I have read about having to splice into speed sensor wire and didn't know if that have could be the problem? Just a guess any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Well since he had something installed and now something else is not working I would say yes. If you want to save yourself a lot of trouble, check to see if anything else is not working in the truck. Check all the fuses and if nothing comes up then disconnect the units from the truck and see if things come back to life. Make sure all wiring in the area of the install is ok. You didn't mention a check engine or ABS light so i would start there. Better to back track yourself then have them do it.

I had a similar issue. I was testing some wires for power and blew some fuses. My Speedo stopped working and my turn signals. I replaced the obvious blown fuses but it didn't fix it. I traced the issue back to the relay. I didn't know how to test if it was the relay or something else so I just replaced the relay and everything was good.

    Is it under warranty still ( 3 years/ 36,000/ 60,000 miles)?

And doesn't seem to be any blown fuses and all wires seem to be plugged in ... what relay would it be?

Didn't drive it enough to really notice if the odometer was working. Can't remember the name of the relay. Go get yourself a Haynes/Chiltons and follow the wiring diagram from the issue items back to the relays. If they connect to the same relay there is a good chance the relay is the problem.
