What makes you think its a rod knock and not a main bearing?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Spun rod bearings will sound like that. Drain the oil through a coffee filter and see if you have any metal shavings.

Ok, so If I have any kind of serious mechanical failure I should see some signs of wear in the form of shavings in my oil.

I'm also having a noise, but I was using my stethoscope and it really sounds like a valve tapping. I really don't want to do a top overhaul. I'm just going to try an engine flush, and change and a tune-up. I'm going to try and pinpoint the problem now.

Do not use an engine flush. It causes more problems than it solves.

A rod knock will be half the speed of Tacoma's normal ticking valve noise. Rod knock will sound more like a tock than a tick.

If you find that you have, or think you have a rod knock, stop driving it. The stress of running it will grenade the engine turning a simple rebuild into a replacement.

That sucks man. Sounds like new engine time. Hopefully you can get this down with the least amount of hassle as possible

They're probably going to replace the motor
