Basically the code (hoping I didnt make a mistake on the numbers lol) is Idle control system malfunction.

The truck is a 00 tacoma v6 3.4l manual access cab 4wd. Stock no mods.

Symptoms are as follows.
-Normal operation...high idle, otherwise runs fine, sounds good. 11-1200rpms for resting idle...runs fine at speed, though slightly sluggish in the hills (I am attributing this to the 175000 miles on it)

-cold start up is good, jumps to life no problems.

-hot start up is a NO GO! starts rough, and either dies or acts like its catching itself. When it does it smooths out, and idles high again....or outright dies and is almost impossible to start for 4 minutes or so.

-lastly I've noticed it revving in rpms when at speed, pressing the clutch and coasting (not downshifting) to a stop. It does this intermittently and only seems to happen when the rpms try to drop below 1000 rpms...almost like the computer is doing an 'uh oh'. It smooths back out to the high idle as the vehicle slows and comes to a stop. We've tested over and over again for vacuum leaks and have found none. This only happens when I press the clutch in and dont downshift while slowing down (that I've noticed). It doesnt occilate any other time.

I am seeing a oil slight film in the air intake plenum. The throttle body had a film obviously also. The pcv valve is new and clean.

I've pulled the trottle body apart and cleaned multiple times....have replaced the MAF and IAC valve with new parts. Took it to the shop on base and had it hooked to a hand held dyno and other than the high idle he said it all looked fine and confirmed no vacuum leaks.

I am stumped....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try cleaning the IAC and throttle body.

Have you looked for a vacuum leak? Is the air box lid tight?

yes we tried starting fluid..the box is ok.....the box itself needs replaced, the section the maf is in where it comes out of the box broke off....its been expoxied back in place after all of this we found no vacuum leaks in hoses or on the box.

What is the air induction system?

We havent taken the glove box apart and got into the pin deal...the electrician I am not LOL.....the shop on base is rattling their heads over this one...I took that very link to them and have heard nothing back (the toyo manual test steps).

Air Induction System is just the air intake from the fender to the throttle body.

I'm not 100% sure they can stick open, but one of two things is happening: too much air or too much gas.

This shows they can leak. Maybe that's it.
